Concentrated Additives in recycled plastic!
Lasting a lifetime
One of the core elements of sustainability is to ensure the longevity of products. Thetford toilets basically last a lifetime. Van Noesel, Marketing Manager at Thetford: “End-users frequently request a part for a Porta Potti model from decades ago. Apparently, these units are remarkably durable. With regards to our cassette toilets, we focus on extending their longevity even more: applying the right maintenance, a Fresh-up Set for a second-hand toilet and a Twusch porcelain insert to extend the life cycle, all preferred over selling a completely new toilet. And of course, parts stay available all over Europe for a minimum of 10 years after the final production date.”

Step by step
Van Noesel: “Thetford is committed to making current products more sustainable and create more sustainable products. Regarding our toilet additives, our experts constantly seek alternative ingredients to further minimise the environmental impact, making use of a nature bases formula (Bathroom Cleaner) and innovative microorganism technology (PowerPods Bio). However, it is not just about the liquids, also the packaging is part of the total footprint.” Since 2017, Thetford has been developing and producing a concentrated additives line. Van Noesel: “Concentrated additives in smaller bottles is beneficial to both end-users as well as for the environment. For end-users, these bottles take up less space and weight, which is relevant to our RV industry. From an environmental point of view, the production of these bottles use less water, weight, plastic, carton and need less transport.” Now, Thetford is taking the next step: starting in the 2025 season, all concentrated bottles will be made from recycled plastic.
